Chris Dorn

Position: District Chief

Appointed as District Chief on Sept. 18, 2019 - Deceased Nov. 9, 2024

Chris Dorn joined the Pike City Fire Department in 2014 when he moved to the area. With a background in Federal, State and Local Fire Government Fire Departments he brought a well rounded background to the district.

He had many ambitious goals for the district and he succeeded at many of them. His enthusiasm was contagious and it felt like he was just getting going when suddenly, after 5 years as our Chief, he died in a motorcylce accident. He was proud of his accomplishments, a few of which are listed below.

In 2021 he orchestrated upgrading Pike’s 1968 Brush Truck with a 1999 model. The following year, in 2022 he orchestrated upgrading Alleghany’s 1968 structure truck with a 1995 model, engine 7180. In 2023 he facilitated the upgrade of Pike’s Water Tender from a 1976 to a 1992.

He also recruited and mentored several new firefighters during his tenure.
